Resources

Last update January 2022

Many of the resources on this page are framed by the Queensland General Music Syllabus (2019), with this document guiding the way in which the resources are built.

There are also some Music Extension resources available as well (as above with the connection to the syllabus, General Music Extension Syllabus (2019).

Musicology

Some ideas on Musicology and general musicological processes:

Below are some resources that I use in preparing Year 11 and 12 students for the Integrated Project as well as the EA. These are more mechanical support documents that pedagogical tools (got to look out for my crew!). More coming soon…

Below are a sample of Musicology assessment tasks (sans criteria sheet) from the past QCAA syllabus document (2013). I’ve left them here as they may be of value, and could be reworked for use in the current system. My focus here was an attempt to show ways in which students can engage in authentic evaluation; the questions require the students to perceive and interpret the music elements that are important to the evaluation, then analyse and evaluate these features/qualities, before synthesising their findings to pose/support their viewpoint. These tasks are constructed from the conditions outlined by the Music Senior Syllabus (2013). Please respect that these documents are identifiable by school:
